Formula: Ground coffee (g) = total water (g) ÷ ratio
About the Coffee Ratio Calculator
The Coffee Ratio Calculator gives you an instant answer from just a few inputs — number of cups, cup size, water-to-coffee ratio (1 : n). It runs entirely in your browser, so the numbers you enter stay private and never touch a server, and the result recalculates the moment you change a value. It's free to use with no sign-up, no limits, and nothing to install. Under the hood it applies the formula Ground coffee (g) = total water (g) ÷ ratio.
Worth Knowing
Specialty coffee is brewed by weight, not by scoops, because bean density varies too much for spoons to be consistent. A ratio of about 1 gram of coffee to 15–17 grams of water (written 1:15 to 1:17) is the widely used starting point for balanced filter coffee; a lower number brews stronger, a higher number weaker. Since one millilitre of water weighs essentially one gram, this tool treats your water volume in millilitres as grams — accurate enough for any home brew.
How to Use
