Net Worth Calculator
Your net worth from total assets and total liabilities.
About the Net Worth Calculator
The Net Worth Calculator gives you an instant answer from just a few inputs — total assets, total liabilities. It runs entirely in your browser, so the numbers you enter stay private and never touch a server, and the result recalculates the moment you change a value. It's free to use with no sign-up, no limits, and nothing to install.
Worth Knowing
Net worth is what you own minus what you owe, and its value lies entirely in the trend rather than the single figure. Measured once, it tells you almost nothing. Measured every quarter for three years, it tells you whether your financial life is actually improving in a way income alone never does, since a high earner who spends everything shows a flat line. Value assets at what they would realistically sell for today, not what you paid. A house goes in at market value with the remaining mortgage on the other side, so only the equity contributes. A car goes in at trade-in value, which is well below what you financed. Retirement accounts are worth listing at balance, but a traditional 401(k) or IRA carries a deferred tax bill, so its spendable value is lower than the statement, while a Roth balance is genuinely yours. Skip furniture, clothes, and electronics — they are consumption, not assets, and including them mostly inflates the number. Liabilities are simpler: current payoff balances on mortgages, auto loans, student loans, credit cards, and anything else owed. It is normal and unremarkable for the total to be negative early on, particularly after graduate school. Most early movement comes from paying down debt rather than accumulating assets, which is why the figure can climb steeply in years when your income has not changed at all.
