Commission Calculator
Commission earned from a sales amount and commission rate.
About the Commission Calculator
The Commission Calculator gives you an instant answer from just a few inputs — sales amount, commission rate. It runs entirely in your browser, so the numbers you enter stay private and never touch a server, and the result recalculates the moment you change a value. It's free to use with no sign-up, no limits, and nothing to install.
Worth Knowing
This handles the straightforward case, a flat percentage of a sales figure, which is where most plans start and few of them stay. The structures layered on top change real earnings far more than the headline rate. Tiered plans raise the percentage after a threshold, so the marginal rate on the deal that crosses quota is much higher than the average rate, and accelerators do the same thing more aggressively above 100% of target. A draw is an advance against future commission, and the distinction between recoverable and non-recoverable matters enormously: a recoverable draw is a loan you repay out of later commissions, and a slow quarter can leave you owing your employer. The basis the percentage applies to deserves as much attention as the rate. Commission on gross revenue, on net revenue after discounts and returns, or on gross profit produce very different cheques from the same deal, and a plan that pays on profit gives you a direct stake in not discounting. Check when it is earned versus paid — on signature, on invoice, or on cash collected — because payment on collection means a slow-paying customer delays your money. Check the clawback terms for cancellations and refunds within some window. And read OTE, on-target earnings, for what it is: a projection assuming you hit quota, not a salary. The meaningful questions are what proportion is base versus variable, what share of the team actually hit quota last year, and whether the territory supports the number.
