Worth Knowing
Value Added Tax is charged as a percentage of the net price and is standard across much of the world outside the US, with rates commonly between 15% and 25%. The wrinkle that trips people up is the difference between adding VAT to a net figure and extracting VAT already baked into a gross price — the two use different arithmetic. Unlike US sales tax, VAT is collected at each stage of production, but the consumer ultimately bears the full amount.
How to Use
- Enter Amount (excl. VAT) into the first field of the VAT Calculator.
- Fill in the rest: VAT rate.
- Your result appears instantly as you type — there's no submit button or page reload.
